Cutting back or stopping cannabis use

Individuals who use cannabis may want to cut back or stop using altogether. Some are able to do so without any support. Others may feel the need to obtain professional help. A range of services are available to support cannabis users in their efforts to cut back or stop using.

Integrated Health and Social Services Centres

Across Québec, Integrated Health and Social Services Centres (CISSS) provide free services for individuals who want to cut back or stop using cannabis. Professionals in CLSC and addiction treatment centres can provide assessments, guidance, and quality services based on individuals’ needs. Outpatient and inpatient counselling services are available. To find out more about the services on offer, contact your CLSC.

Public and private inpatient resources

Individuals who want to stop using can also obtain quality inpatient services at public and private facilities. The approach, duration, and rates vary from one resource to another. To find a resource, see the directory on addiction resources (in French only).
